PECO is working to fix outages from last week’s storm. But thousands of customers are without power for A/C as temperatures soar.

The National Weather Services is predicting a high temperature of 97 degrees Sunday, with the heat index expected to be above 100 degrees.

Residents can access cooling centers in Norristown and Pottstown during the heat emergency.

The heat index will soar above 100 degrees early next week. Older adults, people with heart issues and those without A/C are at highest risk.

Thursday is forecast to be Philly’s first day of the season that tops 90 degrees. It comes with a Code Orange air quality alert.

Young children, older adults and people with lung conditions such as asthma should limit their activity outside, state officials said.

The National Weather Service says that while skies may be hazy, wildfire smoke should remain aloft. Air quality at ground level remains good.

NOAA said a warmer ocean is partly to blame for the above average predictions. New Jersey officials said beach preparation is key.

Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware are among 13 states serviced by PJM Interconnection. Federal regulators say the growing demand for electricity is “not sustainable.”

Winds of up to 105 mph were reported with the gustnado that snapped trees outside a Franklinville home.

The twister was rated as an EF-0, with max winds of 65 mph to 75 mph.

Full containment of the blaze comes more than two weeks after it was first sparked in southern Ocean County.

Officials said the fire is believed to be the second-worst in the last two decades, smaller only than a 2007 blaze that burned 26 square miles.

The large wildfire was sparked at the peak of New Jersey’s spring fire season.

In its most recent update, the New Jersey Forest Fire Service said about half of the fire spread over nearly 24 square miles in the southern part of the state was contained.
